COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMINATION

Based on any symptoms you may have and a thorough eye and medical history of you and your family, we  conduct a comprehensive, thorough and appropriate examination of your eyes and their health.

REFRACTION AND PRESCRIPTION

We do everything we can to accurately measure your spectacle or contact lens prescription and endeavour to get it perfect first time. We understand that having your eyes refracted can be stressful if you are rushed when giving your responses, which is why we allocate enough time to do the job properly.

CONTACT LENS FITTING

We fit contact lenses of all types and do not restrict our choice to just one type or brand or design of lenses. We have the facilities and expertise to fit soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses, multifocal contact lenses and disposable lenses including single-use ‘daily’ lenses.

CHILDREN’S VISION

We have a special interest in children’s vision. We choose not to practise as behavioural optometrists. We offer a full check of a child’s eyes and a comprehensive assessment of the visual system including any abnormalities of binocular vision.

LASER SURGERY REFERRALS

We work closely with ophthalmologists to deliver best possible care for our patients. We can measure your eyes to determine whether you are suitable for lasik, clear lens extraction or other refractive types of surgical correction. We will only refer to ethical surgeons with your eye health and best visual outcomes as the most important consideration.

DIABETIC EYE HEALTH SCREENING AND VISION

Diabetes can have a profound impact on your vision so all diabetics should be checked at least once a year for any deterioration of eye health or vision. We will thoroughly check your eyes for any diabetic changes to the retina (known as diabetic retinopathy) and will keep a record of your vision and eye health status for comparison in the future.

GLAUCOMA SCREENING

Prevention of glaucoma involves more than just a check of your intraocular pressure (IOP). We are equipped to detect the earliest signs of glaucoma so that treatment can prevent blindness from glaucomatous eye damage.

KERATOCONUS SCREENING

Keratoconus is a relatively common condition that is often misdiagnosed as astigmatism in the early stages. We are equipped to detect keratoconus early so that timely treatment can lessen the impact on vision in the future.

MACULAR HEALTH ANALYSIS

Macular Degeneration is a major cause of central blindness that affects the ‘straight-ahead’ vision of the eyes, which is essential for most of the visual tasks of life, such as reading, driving, watching TV, recognising faces and using a computer.

DRIVING VISION ADVICE

To be a safe driver, good visual acuity (sharpness) must be combined with good binocular vision and depth perception (stereopsis and eye teaming) to maintain a comfortable single image of the driving environment free of diplopia (double vision). There must also be a complete field of vision, free of scotomas (abnormal blind spots) and without any restriction of the visual fields that can result from trauma or disease of the eyes or brain. Safe driving can also be compromised by excessive glare caused by cataracts and other opacities in the eye.
